Heather Marianna’s Top Tricks for Fighting Acne in the Summer Heat!

May 27th, 2015

Its officially here Summer! Hot nights, dates, events, early morning and tired eyes await us. If you are a Beauty Kitchen Junkie then you are definitely the type of girl or guy who loves Summer and all it has to offer. Here my top tricks for fighting acne this summer. You might want to print this out, its a keeper!

Summer humidity and heat lead to excess sweat, weather it be from a night on the Las Vegas Strip to your very own downtown, to an outdoor charity function in the Hamptons. The following tips are tried and tested by me and my friends and will help you zap that zit so you can go along with your next days events flawless this summer.

Ice Cubes

Ice cubes will shrink the redness and inflammation of a pimple and make it less noticeable.

Garlic

Take a garlic supplement at night. The garlic seeds purify the blood, which help keeping pimples away

Orange Peel Lemongrass Mask

Dried organic Orange peels (shredded in your blender to avoid abrasion) 1/4 cup of organic refined sugar, 5 drops of Lemongrass Essential oil and add Coconut oil to create an acne free scrub. Perfect to do anytime of the day when you are not wearing makeup.

 Honey

Honey has antimicrobial properties, so it’s especially great for acne prone skin types.
Dab a small amount of honey on the pimple as soon as the head becomes visible. Put a band-aid on it, and go to sleep. When you wake up, it’ll be gone! Don’t forget to moisturize afterwards! I suggest using a chemical free dye free moisturizer from the Beauty Kitchen.

 Lemon

Overnight apply a bit of fresh lemon juice to the pimple to reduce its size and intensity, add a crushed Tylenol into the juice to reduce inflammation or use children liquid Tylenol. Wash it off with water the next morning. Use this home remedy only if your skin is not sensitive.

 Cucumber

Try applying grated cucumber over the face and neck for the treatment of pimples and blackheads. This process should only take 15-20 minutes of your time. You can also ad 2-3 teaspoons of lemon juice to the grated cucumber and mix it until you’ll have a paste and apply it on the affected area. If you negate the Lemon Juice from the mix and add milk this is perfect for sunburns.

 Eye Drops

It’s not really a “home remedy” but in case you have a bottle laying around, this is a very effective emergency treatment!
Refreshing eye drops, especially Visine, will reduce the redness and swelling of the pimple, which is perfect if you are already out and have a real emergency! Then cover the pimple with a bit concealer if necessary.
